Ever since I was little I have been interested in music.remember writing random songs throughout the day, I have done so since I was 11 years old. I would run around my house with a sheet of paper just singing my heart out. I could only imagine how my family's ears felt.

I don't remember what initially got me into music, none of my family really has any musical talent, so it's not like I was brought up learning an instrument. Maybe it was the fact I would always hear music playing around my house. It was almost like a switch that flipped in my brain, one day I found that music inspired me more than anything else in the world. From that point forward I knew what I wanted to do. As soon as I was 13 I realized that my music needed more. After talking to my parents, they agreed to get me into guitar lessons. They were unsure if I would take it seriously and be willing to learn, as I always had difficulties sticking to one thing. To their surprise, it inspired me to become better, it's like it cleared my mind and allowed me to think more clearly.

I stuck with the same guitar teacher throughout all of high school, in those years he also thought me basic piano, and how to record and produce my own music. He gave me opportunities to perform in front of real crowds. He was one of the first people to believe me and my music.

In many ways, he is the reason m where I am today. He thought my better writing techniques and broke the ice for my future in music. Thought out the years I also watched him grow. When I started with him he ran a small business out of his basement teaching music. Within a couple of years, he eventually bought his own building and is now running a full operation out of it. He has now hired a team of people to continue teaching and the rate of his ever-expanding business.

His company is called Matt-o-Music in Courtice. Over the last year, I have been a sole independent artist. Working on music that I can hopefully share with the world soon. It's been a struggle trying to do it on my own, finding time to make music and learn more about producing. It is definitely not an easy task.

People frequently ask me why I'm not taking a music-related program in college and I always give the same answer. I say, I love music and nothing will ever change that, but in reality, the music industry is very small. Only a few out of millions of people ever make it big, and many of the best artists will never get noticed.

I was convinced that my music would only ever be a hobby. Until the start of college where I finally found someone who showed me something different. On the first day of orientation, I met someone who is just like me, a musician, and now one of my best friends.

Since that day he has pushed me to be better and take the leap. He taught me that it was never gonna happen if I didn't believe in myself. Now, we have started writing songs together and producing them, with the hope of one day releasing an EP together.

Now, I will continue taking steps to further advance my career in music.
